The Founder 1825
Claus Herrmann Spliedt had a passion for drawing and craftsmanship. The Danish king, who happened to be present for the school inspection at graduation, offered the young Spliedt a tuition-free study at the University of Copenhagen, as he had been introduced as the top student in his class. However, Spliedt politely declined. He preferred to become a goldsmith.
At the age of 31, the young goldsmith Claus Hermann Spliedt purchased the house at Breiten Strasse No. 18 on October 16, 1856.
This laid the foundation for the goldsmith's shop in Itzehoe. The official start date was later set as 1857.
Official Inauguration
The official start date was later set as 1857. To this day, the original house, now bearing the number 20, remains in family ownership: It is managed by Henning, Volker, and Torsten Spliedt.
Hamburg
In the fifth generation, Torsten H. Spliedt opened the business in Kampen on Sylt. Here, the owner occasionally sits with a customer in a beach basket chair in front of the shop to help find the perfect gift.
Present in Hamburg since 2016, we now showcase "by Appointment Only" curated watchmaking art and jewelry highlights at our new Watch and Jewellery Apartment on Jungfernstieg 15.

As times changed, we decided to rethink the classic jewelry store. In July 2023, this gave rise to our first Watch and Jewellery Apartment in Hamburg – a place for discreet, stylish consultations in a modern atmosphere.

Today, Torsten H. Spliedt leads the business in its fifth generation – an impressive heritage that is rightfully regarded as one of Germany's oldest family-owned jewelry houses.

Since 2025, she has been managing the Watch & Jewellery Apartment München and is particularly responsible for the jewelry sector in the region. With her expertise, she ensures that every visit becomes a special experience.

As a certified watch expert with comprehensive expertise, he has been enriching our team since 2025. With passion and precision, he assists our customers—from personal consultations and professional watch appraisals to seamless processes for selling and purchasing timepieces.
