Yet connoisseurs know: the Glashütte Original Grande Cosmopolite Tourbillon ranks among the rarest, technically most demanding and exclusive wristwatches ever crafted in Germany. With a worldwide limitation of only 25 pieces, this extraordinary masterpiece represents the pinnacle of traditional Glashütte watchmaking. The Grande Cosmopolite Tourbillon unites, in a singular manner, a flying tourbillon after Alfred Helwig, a perpetual calendar and one of the most complex world-time functions ever realised, covering 37 international time zones—including regions with half-hour and quarter-hour offsets. The substantial 950 platinum case underscores the uncompromising standards of this reference. With a diameter of 48 mm, it provides the ideal stage for the exceptional, multi-layered dial featuring panoramic date, home-time, world-time and calendar indications. Despite its considerable complexity, legibility remains remarkably intuitive—an achievement attained by only a few grand complications. At its heart beats the manually wound Manufacture Calibre 89-01. Comprising 528 individual components and 70 jewels, this movement offers a power reserve of approximately 72 hours and is among the most technically sophisticated calibres ever developed in Glashütte. Several innovations and patented solutions made it possible, for the first time, to combine a perpetual calendar that advances and reverses with a world-time display for 37 time zones and a flying tourbillon in a single wristwatch.
