A Royal Oak from an era when luxury did not need to be loud. At the beginning of the 1980s, when the world was shaped by the quartz revolution, Audemars Piguet created one of the most elegant interpretations of the Royal Oak: the rare reference 6009ST. With its distinctive rectangular case, integrated steel bracelet and iconic Petite Tapisserie dial, it embodies the uncompromising design philosophy of Gérald Genta’s golden era. This example originates from the sought-after B-series of April 1982 and presents itself in an exceptionally authentic collector’s condition. The case has never been polished, preserving the characteristic edges, satin finishes and bevels in their original sharpness to this day – a detail that is becoming increasingly rare in vintage Royal Oaks. Particularly sought-after is the so-called “NO QUARTZ” dial. While many early quartz models carry the word “Quartz” on the dial, this variant deliberately omits it, resulting in a distinctly more harmonious, purist appearance closer to the legendary Jumbo models of the first generation. The deeply textured Petite Tapisserie dial shifts between anthracite and black depending on the light, giving the watch a captivating presence that many modern watches, despite larger dimensions, often fail to achieve. Together with the perfectly integrated Royal Oak bracelet, it creates the unmistakable silhouette that made Audemars Piguet a design icon. Equipped with all bracelet links (full links), the watch offers optimal wearability while remaining an exceptionally rare collector’s piece. Its very good overall condition reflects the careful preservation over more than four decades.
