As part of the iconic A-series produced shortly after the Royal Oak’s introduction in 1972, this model embodies the groundbreaking design of Gerald Genta. The Royal Oak was the first luxury sports watch crafted in stainless steel and revolutionised the industry with its octagonal bezel and integrated bracelet. Reference 5402ST is distinguished by a tropical dial that has developed a unique brown patina through natural ageing—a feature particularly appreciated by collectors. The case measures 39 mm in diameter and is made of high-grade stainless steel, offering water resistance to 5 ATM. The distinctive bezel is secured by eight visible screws, emphasising the robust, maritime character of the design. The matching stainless-steel bracelet integrates seamlessly with the case and terminates in a folding clasp for optimal comfort. The tropical-brown dial provides clear hour markers and a date window at 3 o’clock, protected by a scratch-resistant sapphire crystal. The watch is powered by calibre 2121, an automatic movement with a 40-hour power reserve. This precise manufacture calibre is based on the proven Jaeger-LeCoultre 920 and ensures exceptional reliability. The watch has recently been serviced, with the next service recommended in 2025 to maintain its longevity. The set includes the Extract from the Archives, confirming authenticity and provenance, as well as the original packaging and documents.
